Bridge Schools Uganda Produces 2020 PLE Stars
This year our Bridge Uganda students have been hard at work. Here’s some of our top scoring students!!!
Ssenkungu Joseph is 13 years old from Nansana municipality and goes to Bridge, Nansana. He has been at Bridge for 2 years and says that since joining Bridge, he is happier about his studies.
“Bridge has helped me to speak and write English better,” he says.
Joseph believes Bridge has changed his life and improved his studies. “I was struggling in mathematics when I came in but now I can easily score a distinction,” he smiles. He adds that
“Bridge provides learning materials in plenty, the teachers are experienced and caring.”
Joseph’s neighbourhood is close to the school. This means he does not have to walk long distances to school. He lives with both his parents; his mother is a teacher whereas his father is a policeman.
At school, he has responsibilities. He is a class prefect who ensures that all classrooms are clean and in order whenever the teachers are out. Joseph’s favourite subject is mathematics and he wants to become a pilot in the future. His favourite teacher is Mr Ivan Kasozi who teaches mathematics and science.
Beyond the classroom, Joseph is involved in extracurricular activities. He enjoys playing football. He has been reading past papers and learning materials provided by the school and feels ready for PLE. He wants to join Luzira secondary school.
Nanono Joyce is 12 years old from Nansana municipality and goes to Bridge, Nansana. She has been at Bridge for 3 years and also has a brother in primary 7. She says the teachers at Bridge have helped in improving her grades. “I am now performing well in mathematics and science,” she says. Joyce adds that she is now performing better compared to when she was at her previous school.
Joyce’s home is very close to her school. This means that she doesn’t struggle to reach the school every day, ensuring she’s on time for all of her lessons. She lives with her parents who are both entrepreneurs.
At school, Joyce has responsibilities. She is a class prefect and makes sure she serves her role diligently. Her favourite teacher is Mr Ivan Kasozi who teaches mathematics and science. Her favourite subject is mathematics and she dreams of becoming a lawyer in the future.
Joyce is a girl of many talents. She enjoys debating and always involves herself in debates at school.
“Debating helps me to express myself better and I enjoy being on the opposer’s side of the debate,” she says.
She is very positive and feels ready for PLE because she has been doing revision using the learning materials provided by the school. Joyce wants to join Luzira secondary school.
Batamuriza Judith is a 14 years old pupil from Nansana municipality currently studying in Primary 7 at Bridge, Yesu Amala. She has studied at Bridge for 6 years and says that she is taught well which is why her grades at school have improved. She adds that she wasn’t performing well at her former school but is now better at her subjects.
She is the oldest and has siblings who also study at Bridge; one in primary 1 and the other in primary 3. She always strives to be a good example to her siblings which is why she works hard at school.
At home, Judith lives with both her parents. Her father is a shopkeeper while her mother is a market vendor. She has quite a long walk to school everyday, but says this motivates her to work hard at school so that she can make her parents proud.
At school, she is a prefect in her class and ensures that the classroom is organized and clean. Her favorite teacher is Mrs Lydiah Nabuliime who teaches English. Her favourite subject is science and she wants to be a doctor in the future. Beyond the classroom, Judith is a girl of many talents. She sings during the PE lessons as a way of entertaining her classmates. She loves seeing her friends happy.
Judith says that she has prepared for the exams by reading learning materials provided by the school and completing class exercises. She is confident and feels ready for PLE. She wants to join Luzira secondary school.
